IDENTIFYING LOST
WRECKS.
LRDG's instructors are actively involved in locating and identifying lost WW1 and WW2 wrecks around the UK coastline. Our team combines archival research with modern survey techniques and operational diving to document previously uncharted sites.
Operating from our dedicated expedition RHIB, we deploy to remote coastal locations for multi-day survey and dive operations. Expeditions are open to qualified divers looking to contribute to genuine discovery — combining advanced diving with maritime historical research.

Archival Research
Cross-referencing Admiralty records, Lloyd's War Losses, and modern hydrographic data to identify potential wreck sites. Narrowing search areas before deployment.
Survey & Location
Side-scan sonar survey from the RHIB, followed by targeted diver verification dives. Documenting findings with photography and measurements for positive identification.
Documentation & Record
Comprehensive wreck reports submitted to the UK Hydrographic Office. Contributing to the historical record and ensuring sites are properly charted for future reference.
